April 17, 1949 – March 4, 2023

On Friday, March 4, 2023 Gayle returned to the welcoming arms of her “wombmate”, twin and best friend Glenda (predeceased) and her parents June and Ed Flindall. Gayle leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 40+ years, Bob Jewell and their beloved pets Bentley and Daisy.

She will be greatly missed by her children Cathy Barrick (Scott) and Ed Barrick. Gayle was a proud grandma to Bretton (Ryan), Anderson (Minoo), Carter and Clark and was especially elated to be a GG to Colebean. Survived by siblings Sharon (Clyde), Ted (Lauje) and brother-in-law, Richard.

Gayle had a great sense of humour, often encouraged by Glenda, and could be the instigator in many a practical joke.  Gayle and her kids spent many summers at O’Reilly Lake, the spot of their most treasured childhood memories.  Lazy summer days and campfires, where mom could be found leading the song singing were the highlights of summer holidays.

Gayle and Bob put thousands of miles on the good old Corolla as they toured around country roads, looking at the scenery and stopping for an apple fritter (or two).  They built their home and life in the Wasaga Beach and Collingwood areas in retirement, and you could find Gayle in her happy place, the beach or pool, as often as she could get there.

Gayle was best-known as a crafter extraordinaire, spending hours in her craft room with her group of crafting friends.  Receiving her homemade (with love) cards at birthdays and Christmas will be an unfillable void.

As per her wishes, no service will be held, and she will be cremated to be returned to her family plot with her parents in Belleville. If you have some glitter handy, spread it far and wide in Gayle’s honour, she would love that. Donations in her memory would be welcomed to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society.

Special thanks to the staff of the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital for their compassionate care as Gayle crossed the rainbow bridge.  Cathy and Ed are eternally grateful for Bobby and Shirley, who were there at her bedside, as Glenda came by to pick her up for their heavenly adventures.

If there is a Michaels/Hobby Lobby in the afterlife, we hope they have stocked up on craft supplies because the twins will be spreading glitter (everywhere) as they did here on Earth.
