Our dear brother and Uncle (David) George Clare passed away peacefully at Sunset Manor, his home in Collingwood for the past 4 years. He will be remembered fondly by the staff and residents at Sunset Manor where he was taken care of with kindness and compassion.

George was the best big brother, he was smart, caring and had a wonderful sense of humour. Genuinely cared for people he met during his life and had a heart of gold. George wanted more than anything to be with his family. He also loved his pets. Baking Christmas cookies with our mother was a tradition he carried on for years long after mom passed.

George graduated from George Brown College after successfully taking a course in Industrial Instrumentation Technology in 1973. He used his training to work at our stepfather, Neville Hale, company Fathom Oceanology for over 25 years. In 1999 George moved up from Mississauga to Collingwood to live with our parents. He enjoyed making all the meals much to their delight and took care of the grocery shopping for them. When they both passed, he moved into a family home in 2010 with Jamie and his family for 7 years.

George leaves behind his brother Jim Clare and his wife Grace, his sister Sue Barry who was his constant sidekick. His nephew Jamie Barry and Jamie’s wife Stefanie Barry along with their 3 boys, Jack, Ethan and Finley. Also, his two nephews Chris and David Clare and niece Victoria Clare. His passing leaves a big hole in our lives. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Predeceased by our parents Marguerite Hale (Clare), Ross Clare, our Stepfather Neville Hale and niece Lindsay Clare.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will take place in the new year.  Friends may visit George's online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
