Chater, Sandra Doreen passed away peacefully on Monday January 2, 2023, at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital in her 83rd year. Sandra was predeceased by her husband Thomas Chater and will be remembered as the proud and loving mother of Daniel (Cheryl) and Matthew (Carolyn) Chater. Her two granddaughters Rachel and Trinity brought her much joy and they will cherish their memories of her forever. Sandy is survived by her sister Sylvia (the late George) Bowers and will be remembered by her nieces and nephews.

Sandy was a great lover of family and fun, she enjoyed all her time with the family on ski vacations and camping.  She enjoyed golfing with the Girls in addition to the19th hole with them.  Sandy enjoyed the company of many good friends and in turn Sandy was a fierce friend.  There was no end to the lengths that she would go to help her friends, if she could do it, she did it. In her later years she spent a lot of her time at The Royal Canadian Legion.  Being a veteran herself she was always giving of herself to the task at hand.  If it was worth doing it was worth doing right.  Some of the roles she enjoyed were the Membership committee, being the Poppy Chairperson where levels of donations skyrocketed for the benefit of our War Veterans.  Her pride and joy was being the editor of the local legion magazine "The DuffleBag '' where she won multiple awards for all her hard work.  Sandy enjoyed many of the functions that the Legion offered Fish Fry, Robbie Burns Dinners and the Remembrance Day Dinners to name a few.

A service of remembrance will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion – Collingwood on Saturday January 28, 2023, at 1 p.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the  https://legion.ca/donations or https://www.dogguides.com/donate/.
