Chartrand, Maurice David (Master Warrant Officer CD1, RCAF – Retired)
Died peacefully on Friday April 5, 2024 at his home at the age of 88.
Maurice of New Lowell, ON formerly of Angus, ON and many other military communities, born in Thornloe, Ontario was the beloved husband of Jeannine (nee Beaulieu) for almost 65 years. Loving father of Michael Chartrand and Maurice (Shirley) Chartrand. Cherished grandfather of Daija (Nathaniel) Jankovics, Kahlan Aubrey (Alex McClane), Victoria (Arthur) Ark, David (Marissa) Chartrand, Diane Chartrand and William Chartrand and great grandfather of Kaden Ark and Isabelle and Jensen Chartrand. Maurice was the last surviving and youngest child of Joseph and Virginie (nee Archambault) Chartrand. He is predeceased by his 14 siblings. He will also be missed by his numerous nieces and nephews.
Maurice had a distinguished career of over 31 years, as an Air Defence Technician (Fighter Cop), in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). His postings took his family throughout Canada and the United States including tours to Colorado, Germany and the DEW line (Distant Early Warning). Upon retirement, he was a long time Commissionaire at CFB Borden. Maurice was a kind man who cherished his family. He enjoyed the peacefulness of his rural home and took joy from curling, fishing and being outdoors gardening. He will be missed.
