It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Don at Campbell House in Collingwood on August 14, 2023, in his 87th year.

Don is the youngest and last surviving child of the late Maurice and Nancy Caron, loving husband for 65 years of Pat (Doner) and father of sons Gary (d. 1985) and Rick of Ottawa.

He is predeceased by his siblings Paul, Elizabeth (Betty), Virginia, Denise, Louise, Edward (Ed), Robert (Bobby) and John.  He was a loving brother-in-law, and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Don was born in Ottawa and moved at a young age to Collingwood.  He lived in the Collingwood-Wasaga Beach area for the rest of his life.  He and Pat also had spent a number of winters in Tampa Bay, Florida.  In all of these places, he made many friends.

Over the years, Don worked in Collingwood in a number of positions, including Payroll/Assistant Personnel Manager at the Collingwood Shipyard; real estate for Harold McKean (Collingwood) and McIntee (Thornbury); and Director of Environmental Services at Sunset Manor, where he retired after 15 years.

In retirement, Don joined both the men's and the mixed Probus Clubs of Wasaga Beach, and was a member of the executive including serving as a past President of each.

He was an active member and supporter of the Presbyterian Church communities in both Collingwood and Wasaga Beach, where he provided leadership as an Elected Elder, Clerk of Session, and Representative Elder of the Presbytery.  He took great enjoyment in music, and was a longtime member of the choir and musical outreach programmes.

He will be sorely missed.  A special thank you to Dr. Boyd and the wonderful staff at Campbell House, Dr. Bouchard and Christine who cared for Don over the years.  A thank you to Lyn and Bob, who provided visits and care for Don to remain at home.

Visitation will be Friday August 18th at Chatterson's Funeral Home, 404 Hurontario Street, Collingwood from 7pm to 9pm.  Funeral Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 200 Maple Street, Collingwood on Saturday August 19th at 11am with visitation one hour prior.  A luncheon to follow.  There will be an interment for the family at First Presbyterian Cemetery on Poplar Sideroad, Collingwood.

In his memory, donations may be made to Campbell House, Collingwood; the Alzheimer Society of Ontario; or First Presbyterian Church of Collingwood.  To sign Don’s Book of Memories, please visit  www.chattersonfuneralhome.com
