Died peacefully on Thursday January 18, 2024 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood at the age of 71.
Laurie of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Barrie, beloved husband of Sandi for over 48 years. Loving father of Shonna (Eric Gagnon). Dear brother of Mick (Perri Rattelade) and brother-in-law of Sue (Dan Brunette) and Carole (Greg MacDonald). Laurie is survived by Sandi’s parents Rae and Deb Waldriff, his nieces and nephews Kerry (Bill), Andrew (Lorie), Jamie (Michelle), Stephanie (Joe), Marc (Tricia), Brandon (Rachel) and Holly (Matt) and nine great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Betty Caldwell and his sister-in-law Mandy Newman.
Laurie was a kind and humble man with a great sense of humour. His passion was sports, particularly rugby as a fan and as a player. He was a valued member of the Barrie RFC and a devoted fan to his favorite teams – The All Blacks, Steelers, Canadiens and the Lakers. Laurie thoroughly enjoyed his time coaching with the Barrie Storm girls softball for many years.
A loving and dedicated family man, a true gentleman, and he will be deeply and forever missed.
Laurie’s family will gather privately at the Barrie Union Cemetery in the spring. If desired, a donation to Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House would be appreciated.
