Died peacefully on Sunday March 26, 2023 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood at the age of 88.
Helen of Stayner, loving mother of the late Beverly (Steve Armstrong), Cathy (Mike Wood), the late David Burgess. Steven (Brenda Burgess and Kevin Burgess. Cherished grandmother of Miranda (Brandon Engel), Brittany (Wade Burmister), Adam Fish, Michael (Jordyn) Fish, Michael (Amy) Hulfeld-Wood and Kristina Hulfeld-Wood and great grandmother of Carter, Deklan, Annibelle, Benjamin, Oliver, Katarina and Baby M (joining the family in June 2023). Dear sister of Nelson (Linda) Freethy, Norm (Shirley) Freethy the late Bob Freethy and the late Dorothy Freethy. Helen was the wife of the late Sam Burgess and daughter of the late James and Mabel (nee Cook) Freethy.
Helen was a kind and beautiful soul whose generosity and love for her family was evident to all. She was a woman of strong faith and was a devoted member of the Stayner Evangelical Missionary Church. She quietly supported many causes in her community and was a long time volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She will be deeply missed.
Friends are invited to join her family on Saturday April 1, 2023 at the Stayner Evangelical Missionary Church, 202 Ontario Street , Stayner from 12 noon for the Funeral Service at 1 o’clock. Reception to follow in the church auditorium. Graveside service at Ebenezer Cemetery to follow at approximately 4 p.m. If desired, a donation to the Stayner Evangelical Missionary Church or Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House would be appreciated by Helen’s family.
