Browning Main

P.Eng. VE3CBA

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of my “Honey”, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather peacefully in his sleep at Errinrung Long Term Care Home on Sunday August 22, 2021.  Don is predeceased by his Parents Albert and Estelle (nee Caswell) Browning, his wife Marguerite (Margo nee Roberts) Browning and their son Andrew Browning.

Don is survived by his wife Sheila Schofield (nee O’Brien).  Don is the loving father/stepfather of Mark and Nancy, Tom and Zoe, Terri and Bill, and Jennifer.  Don’s greatest role was as a Grandfather of 13.  Jesse, Amy, Katie and Lindsay; Keenan (Tristin), Kollen (EmmaLee) and Kyelle;  Larissa, Haley, Sean and Michael;  Bailey and Tyler.  Great Grandfather of our two little Princesses Sophia and Scarlett.

Don always said he only ever had 2 jobs in his whole life, first as an Engineer at G.E. and a Teaching Professor at Sheridan College.  Don was born in Kingston Ontario, an only child and was so proud of Graduating from Queens University.  Don’s two passions were Ham Radio and Fishing.

Don was a long-time volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity Re-store in Collingwood and Red Cross Meals on Wheels.  He also belonged to the Blue Mountain Ham Radio Club, the Peel Amateur Radio Club, the Wasaga Beach Woodworkers Club and Maple Leaf Rally Club.

Of all of the gifts in life that God has sent us, to have had a Grandfather like Don has been the Greatest gift of all.  Don will always be a hero to our Grandchildren.

For those who wish to make a donation, please consider Habitat for Humanity or the Alzheimer’s Society.  Cremation will take place this week and a Celebration of Life will be planned at a later day.  For further information and to sign Don’s Book of Memories, please visit ww.carruthersdavidson.com.
