Husband, brother, uncle, friend, skier, golfer, gardener – he was the very best of each and has left us with broken hearts, but with the joy that he could choose to exit this life with dignity. He had been diagnosed with a virulent strain of Leukemia for which the treatments would have been
onerous and ineffective. Stuart decided, with his family’s full support, that to merely exist and not to live was unacceptable, so he opted for MAID. It was a beautiful, serene and joyous experience administered by Dr. Michael Liauw and the caring and wonderful staff at Southlake
Hospital, Newmarket. Stuart and his wife, Valerie, came
to Canada from England two days after they married in 1966. He leaves her devastated but so thankful for their life together. A celebration of life will be held in their garden in the summer.
