It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kent Baker on Friday April 7, 2023.

Born in Collingwood Ontario to the late Russell and Eleanor Baker.  Kent is survived by his wife of 59 years Ann, and his children Shelly (Andrew) and Rick.  Kent was a proud grandfather to Taylor, Tylor, and Nicholas and great grandfather to James & Brantley.  Kent will be held dear in the heart of his sister Nancy.

Kent will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews, his brother and sister in-laws and his many friends and business associates for his love of life, loyalty and generosity.

Kent was adventurous, loved ski-doing, boating, his cottages on the lake and his passion for horses – he was a talented and successful award winning standardbred horse trainer, owner and breeder in Ontario.  Kent also held the position of Vice President and Director for the Ontario Harness Horse Association (OHHA) and continuously spoke out to promote standardbred horse racing.

Kent loved driving and many times would drive to the races sometimes rather than fly and during his later years loved driving across Canada and into the US.

Kent will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will take place at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home - Stayner Chapel,  7313 Highway 26, Stayner, on Wednesday April 13 and Thursday April 14   from 7 to 9pm.  Funeral service will be held in private with family members only.  In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Kent may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
