Mary Agnes

February 21, 1932 - November 28, 2021

Suddenly, on the afternoon of November 28th, 2021, at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother & matriarch of her giant “tribe”. Predeceased by our father, John, and our brother, Bob. She leaves behind many who loved her, including, her sister, Bonny Lansdowne, her children; Margie (Geoff), Bob (Maria), Cathy (Claudio), Julie (Sam), Lorrie (Ed), Dave (Debbie), Michelle (Craig) as well as 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren & 4 great, great-grandchildren.

As a devout Catholic, she always depended on her faith to overcome many obstacles and offered up prayer upon prayer for her family. Mom was born and raised in Lindsay and moved their growing family to the Toronto area in 1960, where she remained until her final move to Collingwood in 2019.

As we look back, the memories flow and circle around the good times, mom’s quick sense of humour and her blue eye shadow which was always her signature. If she managed to wait until Christmas to open presents, she always had us laughing as she wanted to pick the biggest present under the tree during our crazy Angiers Christmas games. The memories of the whole loaf of white, sliced bread as an edible centerpiece at every dinner and never, ever, did the dinner go without some form of dessert (with a scoop of vanilla ice cream)!

She knew the importance of hard work; she instilled a strong work ethic in each of us. She dedicated more than 30 years to her last position at Van Waters & Rogers (Univar Corporation). She truly loved her team of co-workers and was always offering “her pool around the corner” for lunchtime fun.

Mom, we know you loved “Murder She Wrote”, but unfortunately, Angela Lansbury had a previous engagement and is not able to attend the funeral. :)

A special thank you to Balmoral Place for making the past two and a half years so enjoyable for mom. She always talked about how thankful she was for the staff, the care, the food, her friends and especially for her perfect “little square” and view of her mountains.

A private ceremony for the family will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday December 6, 2021.  The service will be available by livestream at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com. If you wish, donations to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Fawcett Funeral Home - Collingwood Chapel.
