Sadly, we announce the passing of Norm on Sunday March 24, 2024 in his seventy fourth year after a courageous battle with mesothelioma. Norm was the eldest child of Angela and Norville.

Norm is survived by his beloved partner, Josephine (Joey); daughters: Jeanette Renaud and Charlene (Christopher Lanese) Andrews-Lanese and their mother Jennifer Quinn; grandchildren: Isabella Renaud and Myles and Evin Bouchard; siblings: Paul, Lloyd (Ann), Rita Wilkinson (Frank) and Diane Eades (Rick). Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Robert (Big Bob).

Norm was born at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto and grew up in Scarborough. He was quick to tell you that he left school at fourteen and his first job was "head dishwasher "at Watts Restaurant. Norm worked at various jobs where he developed a very strong and dedicated work ethic. At nineteen he married Jennifer Quinn. In 1977, Norm was hired by General Motors and he and Jennifer moved their family to Oshawa where he lived and worked. He retired from General Motors in 2007. Norm was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as a Fourth Degree member of Assembly 3495 in Collingwood. All the males in Norm's family "loved the horses" so watching and handicapping harness races became a hobby he thoroughly enjoyed.

Shortly after retiring Norm built a home in Stayner, Ontario to be close to Wasaga Beach, a placed where he had spent enjoyable time as a child and as a young man with his own family. He divided his retirement years between Oshawa and Stayner. Bored with retirement, Norm had a vision, and decided to open a restaurant in Stayner, with his daughter Charlene. Charlie's Diner opened in 2019. Norm met many wonderful people at Charlie's and made many new friends.
Norm was devoted to his family and was a man of tremendous faith, integrity, and high moral fiber. He was reliable, honest, humble, and generous to a fault. He had a great sense of humor and looked for the funny side in every situation. Norm will be eternally loved and sadly missed by all his family and friends.

Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home- Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner on Wednesday March 27, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday March 28, 2024 at Carruthers & Davidson at 1 o’clock. Interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Princess Margret Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Mesothelioma Foundation would be appreciated by Norm’s family.
