Wolfpack move top of Betfred Championship table with win over Toulouse

TOULOUSE, France — Nick Rawsthorne scored a pair of tries as the Toronto Wolfpack held on to beat Toulouse Olympique XII 24-13 on Monday in a clash of the top two teams in rugby league's second-tier Betfred Championship.

Jonny Pownall, Liam Kay and Andy Ackers also had tries for the Wolfpack (7-1-1), who swept an Easter weekend doubleheader and moved a point ahead of Toulouse atop the Championship standings. Toronto defeated the Featherstone Rovers 24-16 on Friday.

Ryan Brierley added two goals for the Wolfpack, who led 20-6 at the half.

Tony Maurel, Stan Robin, Rhys Curran and Clement Boyer had tries for Toulouse (7-2-0), while Mark Kheirallah kicked three goals.

The Wolfpack, rugby league's first trans-Atlantic team, return to action Sunday against the Bartley Bulldogs.
