Collingwood athletes on podium for OFSAA Nordic champs today (28 photos)

Collingwood Collegiate Institute’s (CCI) Nordic skiing athletes pushed hard on the course today for the OFSAA championship relay race taking home three silver medals and a best-combined banner.

Collingwood Collegiate Institute’s (CCI) Nordic skiing athletes pushed hard on the course today for the OFSAA championship relay race taking home three silver medals and a best-combined banner.

CCI hosted the championships this year at Highlands Nordic in Duntroon, drawing high school athletes from across the province to the area for the competition.

The relay race featured a team of four racers each making a round of an 800 m course.

The junior boy's relay team won the first silver medal finishing eight seconds behind the gold medal team from Glebe College (Ottawa). Glebe also took the bronze medal with their junior boys ‘b’ team.

CCI’s two junior girls teams took silver and fourth in their relay races today.

The senior girl's team from CCI also won second in the relay races. The senior boy's team finished sixth.

Yesterday the athletes competed in distance races. CCI’s top finishers included:

Sadie Campbell in 13th, Isabelle Lewin in 14th, and Hanna Rydlo in 16th in the junior girls 3.5 km race.

Hayden McCulloch in 7th, Oliver Czerny in 9th and Sage Fry in 28th in the junior boys 6 km race.

Quinn Czerny finished 12th, Sofie Ohrling finished 13th, and Lily Wortley finished 19th in the senior girls 6 km race.

Jack Czerny finished 16th, Jake Korpi finished 36th, and Will Hurley finished 63rd in the senior boys 7.8 km race.
