Lea Pankhurst is the centre manager at the Collingwood Youth Centre.

The Collingwood Youth Centre youth council is inviting all teens in the community to join them for a community garbage clean-up day this evening after school.

Anyone aged 12 to 18 years old is invited to participate in the clean-up, which starts today (Nov. 3) at 4:30 p.m. and runs until 6:30 p.m.

The youth council reconvened in October this year and are currently voting on a list of initiatives they'll be trying to accomplish this term. Among their priorities is the health of the local environment and Georgian Bay.

With more events to come, tonight's clean-up will begin at the youth centre and crews will be walking along First Street and through the parks adjacent to the street.

Any high school student participating in the cleanup will receive volunteer hours for their work.

Orange safety vests and cleanup materials will be provided to ensure the safety of the youth participating.

The clean-up today is supported by Georgian Bay Forever, The Canada Service Corps, Elephant Thoughts, and Collingwood Youth Centre.
