The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is proud to announce the release of its 2022-2023 Annual Report, spotlighting achievements since the launch of its three-year strategic plan, Forward, Together, initiated on July 1, 2022.
The Forward, Together strategic plan serves as a roadmap, guiding the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka into the next few years. The organization commits to fulfilling its mission of bringing communities together through experiences that foster skill development, self-confidence, increased health and strength, and opportunities for exploration and growth.
“As we unveil the 2022-2023 annual report, I am proud to witness the impactful outcomes achieved by our organization under our Forward, Together strategic plan,” said Jill Tettmann, CEO of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. “This past year has seen great progress in cultivating a positive workplace, strengthening our organizational legacy, and fostering meaningful connections within our communities. The commitment to our mission is evident in the dedication of our staff and the generosity of our supporters. With confidence in our strategic direction, we look forward to meeting the evolving needs of the communities we serve, ensuring a future where everyone belongs.”
One year into the plan, the YMCA is pleased with its progress and advances toward the goals outlined in its four strategic directions: cultivating a great place to work and volunteer, strengthening the legacy of the Y for future generations, connecting people to meaningful experiences, and promoting the power of the Y.
The Y is proud to share with the community some of the many accomplishments from this past year in their 2022-2023 annual report, including the following highlights:
- Volunteers gave 19,653 hours of their time to support YMCA programs.
- Over $1,151,000 was raised through annual fundraising events.
- 2,700 newcomers were welcomed and supported by YMCA Immigrant Services.
- 954 youth gained valuable skills, found jobs, and started their leadership journey with the YMCA.
- YMCA licensed child care and before- and after-school care programs supported over 5,000 children with a safe space to play, learn, and grow.
- 21,154 people visited YMCA Employment and Learning Services centres in person and virtually to find resources and support.
- Over 1,100 families received financial assistance to access YMCA health, fitness, and aquatics programs.
- 684 children and youth attended camp with support from the YMCA’s financial assistance program.
As the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka moves forward with confidence, utilizing the Forward, Together strategic plan as a guiding light, the organization is poised to meet the evolving needs of the communities it serves. Their commitment to building vibrant and connected communities remains unwavering, and the YMCA looks forward to the future and working with community members and organizations on achieving this, together.
