NEWS RELEASE
COLLINGWOOD BIA
*************************

This year, the Collingwood Downtown Business Improvement Area (BIA) is celebrating our phenomenal women-led businesses that are an integral part of the fabric of our wonderful downtown core.

To recognize International Women's Week, Woman Behind the Business posters will be hung in companies throughout our downtown, featuring pictures of the amazing female entrepreneurs behind the businesses and information about the why behind their ventures. This is a novel way to find out about our community’s amazing women leaders.

Each poster includes a unique QR code that will take you to more information about the business and the owner.

All posters will also be available online linked to the Collingwood Downtown website for you to read at your leisure as you discover the depth of the female entrepreneurial spirit in our community.

The Collingwood Museum has contributed signs honouring women from Collingwood’s past.

Displayed along Hurontario Street, each sign includes a photograph and a short write-up describing the achievements of each individual or group. These signs celebrate many trailblazers, including business owners, war-workers, medical professionals and sports heroes.

As you explore downtown, you will also be able to receive a free gift with purchase from participating merchants. Bookmarks with quotes by female Canadian poets/songwriters have been distributed and many will also include a unique incentive from each business.

Please join us downtown from March 4 to 13, as we join together to celebrate the amazing contributions local women have made – past and present to the community.
