NEWS RELEASE
BLUE MOUNTAIN VILLAGE FOUNDATION
**********************

Blue Mountain Village Foundation (BMVF) knows that COVID-19 continues to cause great challenges within our community, increasing the demands on families, heath care teams, essential workers, businesses and our local charitable organizations who are responding as best and as fast as they can.

Following our spring Accelerated One-Page Grant Program which identified and supported immediate needs in the wake of COVID-19, our local social sector partners have identified five key social challenges that are impacting our community’s wellbeing and health at this point in time.

They include:

  • mental health challenges
  • food access and food security gaps
  • job losses and financial stress
  • access to housing availability
  • diversity, inclusion and anti-racism education

That is why we are launching our second Accelerated One-Page Grant Program with streamlined criteria and a desire to donate funds to organizations that need support right now to help our Southern Georgian Bay Community address the deepening issues we face as a result of COVID-19. We will provide up to 15 $1,000 grants to local charities and not-for-profit agencies to support their efforts. Please see grant applications process details below:

1. Please submit to BMVF a one-page application that outlines the following:

  • Describe programming you are creating to address the community challenges we have identified (or another social/community issue that your organization has identified which has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic).
  • How are you creatively addressing these needs in order to provide direct community support?
  • How are you collaborating with other local service agencies or forming partnerships to elevate scope, reach and/or impact?
  • How will you use funds to support your efforts?

2. Please submit your applications to BMVF by January 22, 2021 to [email protected]. Our Selection Committee will assess all grant applications and disburse funds by January 31, 2021.

3. Please contact Tina Ward directly with any questions at [email protected]

If you would like, you can donate to our efforts and all funds raised will receive a tax receipt, and help us to increase the amount of grant money we can provide. Direct donations can be made at: https://bluemountainvillage.ca/foundation/donate.

The Blue Mountain Village Foundation exists to close social gaps in our community, supporting local, charitable organizations located in Southern Georgian Bay (including Collingwood, Wasaga Beach,  Stayner, Town of the Blue Mountains, Meaford, Duntroon, Singhampton, Kimberley and Creemore). We raise funds via an annual golf tournament as well as other events and activations. Since our inception 16 years ago, we have raised more than 1.6 million dollars that has been invested back into our community through meaningful and necessary programs and support services. We achieve our objectives through advocacy, fundraising, program delivery and effective marketing and communication.
