The Trans Pride Rally and Community Gathering will be taking place Thursday, Aug. 3.

This year’s theme is “We Stand Proud, We Stand Together.”

Fierté Simcoe Pride says the trans-led event seeks to provide a place for trans people to rally, stand up and come together in solidarity.

“Trans people have been dealing with increasing backlash, violence,” the organization stated in a news release.

“The trans community has also been dealing with an increase in policies, political platforms that cause direct harm.”

The event will start at 6 p.m. at the Orillia Public Library Courtyard.

From there, participants will walk in solidarity to St. Paul's Centre, where a community gathering will take place with food and refreshments.

All trans and gender-diverse people, along with their friends, families, and allies are welcome to join in.

The rally will be held during the 12th annual Fierté Simcoe Pride Season, which goes from July 27 to Aug. 6.
