The Town of Collingwood is accepting applications to its Community Recreation and Culture Grants program for financial and in-kind assistance.

Between now and March 22 at 4 p.m., community groups can apply for a grant.

There are 16 financial grants of $1,500 and five grants of $5,000 available on an annual basis through the program.

Groups can also apply for in-kind facility grants in the form of waived fees for use of a town facility. The maximum in-kind grant is $5,000 per eligible applicant and the minimum request is $200. The town offers up to $35,000 per year toward the in-kind portion of the recreation grant program.

Only Collingwood-based, non-profit, charitable, or volunteer organizations are eligible for the grants, and the application requires proof of financial responsibility and good standing with the town.

Grants are available for special events, programs, or activities, provided they meet the objectives of the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Master Plan including:

  • Intergenerational programs
  • Active aging
  • Youth Involvement
  • ‘Learn-to’ programs
  • Local and live music
  • Cultural innovation
  • Collaboration

You can find out more about the grant program and apply online here.

The town will also be hosting two online information sessions, the first on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. and the second on Tuesday, March 2 at noon.

Applicants will be notified of the grant committee’s decisions on April 2.

The town is also looking for volunteers to help assess applications for the 2021 financial grants between March 24 and 29. If you are interested, you can email [email protected].
