Fluff your best toque, the annual rigid frolic for funds will return to Collingwood this weekend.

Coldest Night of the Year is back this Saturday, Feb. 22, with a family-friendly, crisp winter walk through town.

The national walk-a-thon takes place in 136 communities across Canada and aims to raise money and awareness for charities that serve hungry, homeless, and hurting people.

In Collingwood, participants raise funds for Home Horizon, which offers housing at the Barbara Weider House for homeless youth.

The six-bedroom, seven-bed facility also provides youth with access to counselling and a social and life skills program to help them transition to independent living and adulthood.

In Collingwood, the fundraising goal for this year’s walk is $60,000.

The event begins with opening ceremonies at Trinity United Church (140 Maple Street) at 5 p.m. and there will be a two- and five-kilometre walking route that follows Hurontario Street.

At 6 p.m. participants can enjoy an apres-walk warm meal with food provided by local restaurants.

Participants are asked to raise money to support Home Horizon. There’s a $25 registration fee for anyone aged 11 years old and up. Youth who raise $75 and adults who raise $150 will get a Coldest Night of the Year toque.
