Presenting live theatre is a tricky business, and Theatre Collingwood Executive Director Erica Angus knows all too well that the choice of performance is vitally important.

“We really appreciate the feedback we get from our patrons and work really hard to present a season that most are looking for, while also providing variety and artistic integrity,” said Angus. “Leisa Way has a huge following and we are delighted to have her and her band back again with their newest show – ACROSS THE POND-The British Invasion.”

This music production celebrates 50 years of British pop and rock music, from those thrilling hits of the 1960s to today’s biggest stars. It features the music of the “Fab Four” (the Beatles), the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield and many more great artists, who came to North America from Britain and Europe.

From the first few bars to the final chord, the audience is swept away on a fabulous musical adventure. Leisa is again backed up beautifully by her band of talented musicians who, on several numbers, take over the vocals while she makes one of several costume changes.

Joining her on stage, are Bobby Prochaska of Toronto, bass and lead vocals; Fred Smith of Kitchener, guitars and lead vocals; Nathan Smith of North Bay, fiddle, guitars, mandolin and lead vocals; Bruce Ley of Mulmur (near Shelburne), piano, guitars and lead vocals; and Sam Cino of Guelph, drums and lead vocals.

Mixed in with the phenomenal music, is a great narrative about the “British Invasion.” Along with other historical music facts, you’ll learn that Paul McCartney wrote a song for British pop duo Peter and Gordon (Peter Asher and Gordon Waller) to record, and it ended up knocking the Beatles’ top hit off the charts!

Royal LePage Trinity has been a long time supporter of Theatre Collingwood, and their staff really engage in the production by greeting audiences as they arrive and by dressing in the theme of the show they sponsor.  This time they will undoubtedly be sporting some British attire.  Don't forget your fascinator!

ACROSS THE POND - The British Invasion contains a wide variety of music, superbly performed by this group of Collingwood favourites!

Show times are 8 p.m. each evening.

Audience members are welcome to arrive up to 45 minutes early to enjoy the cash bar in the theatre lounge.  On Thursday, July 12 there will also be a 2 p.m. matinee. Their company offers a Matinee & Boat Tour Package available on the Thursday, which includes a 1 ½ hour tour of Collingwood’s picturesque harbour aboard the Huronic and the 2 p.m. matinee.
