At 6 a.m. this morning, the Bienn Gorm Highlanders marked the start of a day of remembrance with music.
Across the world, there were more than 2,500 pipers piping at cenotaphs to mark the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice, which was the end of the First World War.
In Collingwood, the Bienn Gorm Highlanders were joined by a crowd of about 30 people at the cenotaph for the 6 a.m. song. There will be a Remembrance Day service at the cenotaph today at 10:50 a.m. and another service in Millenium Park at 6:55 p.m. The evening service will also include the lighting of a fire beacon at the mouth of the harbour. This service is part of the Battle's Over tribute, which is being marked all over the world. Town Crier Ken Templeman will perform A Cry for Peace, and the names of the 104 Collingwood volunteers who died in the First World War will be read out.
