There will be an emergency water outage for several Collingwood homes later this afternoon.

According to a notice posted by the town of Collingwood today, the homes and business impacted by the outage are on Collingwood’s west end and include:

Highway 26 W (11510, 11510, 11522, 11536, 11555, 11575), Anchorage Crescent, Cove Court, Dockside Drive, Lighthouse Lane east and west, Port Road, Starboard Road, Trafalgar Road and Vacation Inn Drive, including Georgian Bay Hotel.

The water outage will facilitate repairs to a water main, according to the town website.

The town is recommending those owning electric water heaters turn off the power to the water heater until normal water service is restored.

You can find updates on the town’s Facebook and Twitter accounts during the outage. Once water service is restored, if you notice any discolouration in your water, run the cold water tap for approximately five minutes to flush the lines. The best place to do this is in a bathtub.
