The County of Simcoe announced this evening there was some garbage, organics, and recycling left uncollected this week again.

If your garbage was not collected today, you can put it back out on the curb tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.

Missed waste collection has occurred a few times this season in Collingwood, and was the topic of discussion at a county council meeting earlier this month. Council voted to cancel an upcoming curbside electronics collection date in mid-September and instead use the cost of that event toward paying for another company to help with regular curbside waste collection.

Part of the issue is a staffing shortage. The county has a contract for curbside collection and the contractor has reported significant staff shortages this season, combined with some extreme heat making it particularly hard for current employees to complete their work.
