MIDHURST - Tourism Simcoe County, working with BruceGreySimcoe Tourism and many of the area’s beverage producers, is helping showcase the area’s Saints and Sinner Bootleggers Run at the Toronto Christmas Market, occurring weekends from Nov. 16 to Dec. 23, 2018 in the Distillery District.
This is the first time beverage producers from the three counties have been invited to participate in what is known as one of North America’s largest Christmas Markets. Twenty of the area’s 26 craft beer, wine, cider and spirits producers are featured at the event, providing exposure for the Saints and Sinners trail and the local alcohol beverage production sector.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase our experiences and local products in the GTA,” said Deputy Warden Terry Dowdall. “Our involvement is just one of the many regional tourism initiatives that our team supports to help bring visitors, tourism dollars and new experiences to our region.”
Saints and Sinner Bootleggers Run trail started in 2014 with 10 producers, it has grown to 26 producers batching beer, cider, wine and spirits across the region. The trail taps into the area’s historic connection to prohibition, as smugglers used the many inlets and waterways in and throughout Georgian Bay to transport alcohol. Now the region has a budding craft alcohol scene, award winning products and a number of interesting experiences relating to the history of alcohol production.
