WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

Significant rainfall and the risk of freezing rain today.

Hazards:
Freezing rain with ice accretion of 2 to 5 mm.
Strong easterly winds gusting up to 60 km/h.
Rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 mm may lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas.
Icy roads and local power outages possible.

Timing:
Late this morning through this evening.

Discussion:
Freezing rain is possible beginning this morning. The freezing rain is expected to change to rain this afternoon or this evening. Rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 mm are possible. The partially frozen ground may have a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall and localized flooding in low-lying areas will be possible.

The strong easterly winds in combination with any ice accretion may result in localized power outages.

For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.
