Tonight is the night to deliver your thoughts, in person, to council on the proposed 2019 budget.

Council will gather again as the Strategic Initiatives Committee (SIC) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a budget meeting. On March 7, SIC met from 10 a.m. to around 6 p.m. to go through each department’s draft budgets.

Starting at 6 p.m. there’s an informal “Coffee with Council” session open to the public and intended to allow residents to ask questions of council outside of a meeting structure.

The SIC meeting continues at 6:45 p.m. at which time members of the public will be able to make presentations to council for a maximum of 10 minutes per person. The meeting wraps up with further budget review, questions, and directions. The meeting will take place in the town hall council chambers on the second floor.

The budget will not be passed tonight, as that’s an action for a regular council meeting, not a committee meeting.

You can find the entire town draft budget online here, and more on the overall budget breakdowns and tax rates here. For anyone not able to attend, you can submit comments via email here, or by phoning 705-445-1030. The deadline for public feedback is March 25.
