Province reports 213 new COVID-19 cases today

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 213 new cases of COVID-19 today, up from 170 on Thursday.

No new deaths were reported today. There have been 2,813 deaths in total.

Toronto (71), Peel (38), Ottawa (37) and Waterloo (15) account for the majority of new cases.

To date, Public Health Ontario has confirmed 44,068 cases of COVID-19 and reported 39,598 recoveries. There are 1,657 active cases in the province.

There are 49 patients hospitalized with the coronavirus. Eighteen are in intensive care and nine are on ventilators.

The province has confirmed Ontario labs have processed another 32,501 COVID-19 tests, up from 24,669 on Wednesday. There have been 3,245,837 tests processed in total.

There are confirmed outbreaks at 17 long-term care homes in the province. There are 37 confirmed cases among residents and 36 among staff.

As of Thursday, Sept. 10, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 743 coronavirus cases in the region, with 702 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of all the cases in Simcoe-Muskoka, 668 are listed as recovered and 37 people have died. Two people are in hospital — one from Bradford West Gwillimbury and one from New Tecumseth.
