Province reports 204 new COVID-19 cases today

Today's report shows the lowest number of new cases since Thursday, when 170 were reported

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 204 new cases of COVID-19 today, which is down from 232 on Saturday and 213 on Friday.

One new death is also being reported today, bringing the total to 2,815. 

To date, Public Health Ontario has confirmed 44,504 cases of COVID-19 and reported 39,841 recoveries, including 124 since Saturday. There are 1,848 active cases in the province.

There are 39 patients hospitalized with the coronavirus, which is down from 43 in Saturday's report. Fourteen people are in intensive care, which is up from 12 yesterday, and nine patients are on ventilators.

The province has confirmed Ontario labs have processed another 31,143 COVID-19 tests, down from 35,618 on Saturday. There have been 3,312,598 tests processed in total since the pandemic began. There are 26,765 cases under investigation. 

There are confirmed outbreaks at 16 long-term care homes in the province, which is one fewer than yesterday. There are 36 confirmed cases among residents, which is one less than Saturday, and 35 among staff, which is down by four from Saturday.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 748 coronavirus cases in the region, with 707 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of all the cases in Simcoe-Muskoka, 669 are listed as recovered and 37 people have died. Two people are in hospital — one from Bradford West Gwillimbury and one from New Tecumseth.
