Pride celebration, Toronto Queens back for second year at Blue Mountain

Rainbow Ski Weekend takes place at Blue Mountain March 22 and 23

Blue Mountain is bringing rainbow back to the ski hill with the second-annual LGBTQ Rainbow Ski Weekend later this month.

Last year’s inaugural event was a celebration of LGBTQ pride, and according to a news release, this year will be even bigger with interactive activities on and off the mountain.

“It’s a winter pride celebration like no other in Ontario,” said Blue Mountain Village Association president Andrew Siegwart in the release.

The event takes place March 22 to 23 and begins with a flag raising on Friday afternoon, followed by a party with Proud FM DJ Alejo spinning in the events plaza from 2 to 6 p.m.

There will be a Traffic Light themed Welcome Party that evening at Copper Blues Bar and Grill.

Guests can enjoy skiing or boarding on Saturday and more special events in the afternoon. There will also be a Slalom Rainbow Run, which, as it sounds, involves plumes of colour shooting through the air as skiers make their way down Blue Mountain. Dance along with the music, and take in the drag show featuring Xtacy Love, Farra N Hyte, Katinka Kature, Baby Bel Bel and more Toronto Queens.

On Saturday night, there’s a Hat and Helmet Apres Party at Twist Martini Lounge with another performance by the Toronto Queens. The after party takes place at SMASH Nightclub.
