Trevor Henson has spent much of his adult life flying the flag of the anti-bullying movement.

He raised that flag literally today at the Collingwood Public Library for anti-bullying week.

This was the third-annual flag raising and Henson’s 12th year as part of the Collingwood anti-bullying group, which meets at the library.

“I was bullied all my life,” said Henson. “My brother was protecting me and I’m kind of like the big brother now.”

Henson reminded the small crowd gathered at the flag pole to “be kind.”

“Bullying hurts people,” he said.

Today is also Pink Shirt Day, a national occasion encouraging people to wear pink shirts to take a stand against bullying and in solidarity with people who have experienced bullying.

Anyone interested in joining the library’s Anti-Bullying Club can register at the public service desk at the library, or call 705-445-1571.
