Outdoor fires permitted this weekend, but use caution

As always, you'll need a permit from the fire department for any outdoor fire

If you’re planning on having any campfires over the Labour Day long weekend, proceed with caution.

That’s the warning from the town and Collingwood Fire Department as the fire danger rating for the town remains at moderate, where it has been since early July.

All outdoor fires require permits from the Collingwood Fire Department. You can get a burn permit at the Fire Station on the corner of High and Third Street. The fee is $35 cash, and exact change is required. The fire station will be open for permits until 4:30 p.m. today (Friday).

Fire Chief Ross Parr is reminding everyone to use extreme caution when having an outdoor fire, maintain supervision of the fire, and have water nearby.
