With the cost of care increasing provincewide, Oscar’s Place in Collingwood has decided to do what it can to give back.

The inaugural Oscar’s Place Golf Tournament and Silent Auction will tee off on June 15, with all funds raised going back to help fund therapies for local families in need.

“We have noticed over the last year that there are so many dedicated families and caregivers who are raising children with exceptionalities and we know from personal experience how expensive it is,” Lana Roman, a physiotherapist and owner of Oscar’s Place, said in a news release.

“The cost of medical supplies, rehabilitation equipment and therapies quickly adds up and we wanted to help.”

Oscar’s Place Rehabilitation and Wellness Centre for Children opened a year ago in Collingwood. The multidisciplinary rehabilitation centre for children includes services such as physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, massage therapy, mental health services provided by a child and youth care practitioner, concussion testing and a kinesiologist.

“One of the reasons we decided to open Oscar’s Place was to fill the void of publicly funded therapy services for children offered north of Toronto,” Roman told CollingwoodToday in a previous interview.

This year’s tournament will take place at Cranberry Golf Course, starting at 1 p.m. on June 15. The cost to register is $600 per team, and there are cash prizes for the first- and second-place teams, and a $25,000 prize for a hole-in-one.
