OPP investigating after man dies in water in Meaford

Police are investigating the death of a 51-year-old man who was pulled from the water in Meaford, though his death is not considered suspicious by police at this time. 

A news release from Grey Bruce OPP confirmed Dzenad Icagic of Etobicoke died on Aug. 14. Shortly before 2 p.m. rescue crews were called for a report of a person in distress in Georgian Bay just off Grant Avenue in Meaford (Memorial Park). 

Police, Meaford Fire Department, and paramedics responded to the call, but when the man was removed from the water, life-saving measures were unsuccessful. 

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's death, though noted in the release his death is considered "non-suspicious."
