OPP arrest Collingwood man accused of fleeing collision scene involving stolen vehicle

Charges against the man include possession of a weapon, drugs, and stolen property; police report the vehicle was used in an armed robbery

CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP - Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Clearview Fire and Emergency Services and the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services were called to a motor vehicle collision on County Road 9 west of Creemore just after 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 27.

Three occupants fled the collision scene on foot and ran into a wooded area. Police contained the immediate area, and with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Aviation Services, and OPP Canine, two individuals were located and arrested. A third occupant was not located.

The involved stolen vehicle had been used in an armed robbery the evening prior. The Huronia West Crime Unit and Street Crime are currently investigating.

Kenneth Currie, 31, of Collingwood, Ont. was arrested and charged with:

  • • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - cocaine
  • • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • • Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to a prohibition order
  • • Breach of Probation
  • • Fail to Remain

Noah Elkerton, 34, of Brampton, Ont. was arrested and charged with:

  • • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - cocaine

Both accused's are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on Dec. 14, 2021.

This investigation is ongoing.
