Public Health Ontario has reported 3,510 new cases of COVID-19 today (April 26).
Today's report includes 4,057 recoveries and 24 new deaths.
Today's deaths include one person between 20 and 39 years old, two people between 40 and 59 years old, seven people between 60 and 79 years old, and 14 people over the age of 79 years old.
The province has reported 173 new hospitalizations since yesterday, and 38 new admissions of COVID-19 patients to intensive care units.
The April 26 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:
- 40,586 active cases, which is down from 41,157 yesterday.
- 2,271 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, up from 2,126 reported yesterday.
- There are 877 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 (up from 851 yesterday) and 605 COVID patients on ventilators (up from 596 reported yesterday).
- The province reported 33,822 tests were processed yesterday resulting in a 10.9 per cent positivity rate.
- Another 17,369 tests are still under investigation and/or being processed. To date, 13.9 million tests have been completed.
- Of the 3,510 new cases reported today, 1,015 are from Toronto, 909 cases are from Peel, 391 are from York Region, and 79 are from Simcoe-Muskoka.
- Today's new cases include 665 individuals aged 19 and under, 1,326 people between 20 and 39 years old, 1,021 people between 40 and 59 years old, 420 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 74 people aged 80 and over.
Vaccines
- There were 69,308 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered on April 25
- As of 6 p.m. on April 25, the province reported 4,696,211 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered.
- In total, 361,166 people have been fully vaccinated.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 448,861 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 400,340 recoveries and 7,935 deaths, of which 3,914 were individuals living in long-term care facilities.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,019.7 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 191.8 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 7.5 per cent from last week (April 10 to April 16).
