Ontario reports 149 new COVID-19 cases today

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 149 new cases of COVID-19 today, down from 185 on Tuesday.

No new deaths were reported today. There have been 2,813 deaths in total.

Of the new cases, 50 are reported in Toronto, 42 in Peel and 37 in Ottawa.

To date, Public Health Ontario has confirmed 43,685 cases of COVID-19 and reported 39,332 recoveries.

There are now 1,540 active cases of COVID-19 in Ontario, including 55 patients hospitalized with the coronavirus. There are 15 COVID-19 patients in intensive care and eight are on ventilators.

The province has confirmed Ontario labs have processed another 17,605 COVID-19 tests, down from 20,929 on Tuesday. There have been 3,188,667 tests processed in total.

There are confirmed outbreaks at 18 long-term care homes in the province. There are 36 confirmed cases among residents and 39 among staff.

As of Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 733 coronavirus cases in the region, with 694 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of those, 632 cases are listed as recovered and 37 people have died. Two people are in hospital — one in Barrie and one in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
