KIMBERLEY, ON - On Saturday, Sept. 8, over 480 participants from 76 teams dragged cancer through the muddy terrain, including 17 obstacles winding up and down former ski hill at Talisman Mountain Springs Inn & Golf in Kimberley. Money raised through Mudmoiselle funds Canada's most promising cancer research and vital support services for cancer patients and their families.
Allison Taylor, Fundraising Specialist with the Canadian Cancer Society was pleased with the event.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better day,” Taylor says. “Overcoming the tough obstacles and the mountain itself brings on lots of emotions, but it’s a reminder of how tough a cancer journey can be. Everyone comes together to support and help others when struggles are met at an obstacle. It is a really encouraging atmosphere.”
Donations are still slowly rolling in, but as of print date, the event raised just shy of $100,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
“This event being in its fourth year has proven to be a success. We are very Thankful to our dedicated Mudmoiselle committee, volunteers, sponsors and participants. It’s because of your dedication that this goal was achievable!” Taylor says.
Taylor explains that money raised goes toward all aspects of the Canadian Cancer Society’s mission. This includes funding research, information services, and support programs.
