More than $140K raised at ski relay event this weekend

The money will be shared between the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital and Special Olympics Ontario

The annual overnight ski-a-thon at Blue Mountain wrapped up this weekend with more than $142,000 raised for two charities.

The 24H Blue Mtn relay event took place on Feb. 22 and 23 at Blue Mountain for the third year, in support of Collingwood General and Marine Hospital and Special Olympics Ontario.

The money is split between the hospital (20 per cent) and Special Olympics Ontario (80 per cent).

Georgian Thunder Team won the Subaru Ski Cup Challenge prize for most laps in the 24-hour period, with the team completing 246 runs on the hill. The team was made up of members from the Georgian Peaks Ski Club.

Tommy Lam completed the entire 24-hours solo for the third year in a row.
