On Monday night (Oct. 15), Special Olympians were honoured at Collingwood council with a $20,000 cheque presentation of the proceeds from the Mayor’s Golf Challenge Cup.

“This certainly will help in the future. Congratulations for all that you do,” said Mayor Sandra Cooper, while presenting the cheque to Terry Sears, coach; Mark Bryan, community co-ordinator; and some local athletes in attendance.

“I would like to thank her Worship and council for their generous donation. These funds will go to help us complete our upcoming year,” said Sears. “We have a provincial competition coming up, and 13 of our athletes were successful in getting chosen, which is taking place in Sault Ste. Marie this year.”

“This will certainly go a long way to help us get them there.”
