Active Life Conditioning is inviting women to a cycling season kick-off aimed at educating, training, and equipping local women to enjoy their rides.

"We are finding that many people are feeling disconnected from the isolation that COVID has created for us all, and cycling is one of those outdoor activities that we've actually been able to do outdoors for the past two years," said Sarah Applegarth, exercise physiologist at Active Life Conditioning. "We wanted to bring together some experts in the field of nutrition, conditioning, and bike set up and mobility to give some tips and suggestions that will help enhance the experience of women who are just starting to ride, are looking to stay active on their bikes, or are gearing up to improve their performance while riding."

The Women's Community Cycling Night event includes information sessions on proper bike set up, strength and core conditioning for cycling, foods to fuel your rides, and mobility for cyclists. The sessions are led by experts including a cyclist coach, exercise physiologist, nutritionist, chef, and Yoga instructor.

Following the information sessions, there will be opportunity for networking and a vendor market that will include local cycling clubs, coaches, and cycling apparel.

The cost for the evening is $30, and some of the proceeds will go to support Project Butterfly and the community food pantry located outside the Collingwood Youth Centre.

The event takes place April 29 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with the last hour reserved for social and networking.

Registration is online here.
