WATCH: Province plans to spend over $500K to assist military veterans return to civilian life

The province says the Pathways to Post-Military Employment program will support the return of 180 military veterans and reservists to civilian life

Premier Doug Ford has announced the Ontario government wll spend $511,100 in the Pathways to Post-Military Employment program to support the return of 180 military veterans and reservists to civilian life.

This program, administered by non-profit organization Helmets to Hardhats Canada, is meant to help veterans draw upon their unique skills and experience and connect them with good jobs in the construction industry.

Pathways to Post-Military Employment will offer job matching with employers in the construction sector, provide formal skills evaluations and support on-the-job training.

The governent says this program will provide opportunities for veterans and reservists in several fields, including skilled trades, management, administration, planning, scheduling, logistics, security, engineering, and accounting.

Premier Doug Ford is slated to make an announcement at 1 p.m. today in Woodbridge.

The news conferences come after the province released a new framework for COVID-19 restrictions last week, placing Ontario’s public health units into one of five colour-coded categories.

Ford will be joined by Rod Phillips, Minister of Finance, and Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development, to make the announcement.
