Collingwood's high schools reunited for their annual shared Relay for Life event this year, after having been separated by the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Students from both Collingwood Collegiate Institute (CCI) and Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School (OLB) participated in the fundraising event for the Canadian Cancer Society on June 15, which raised more than $133,000 for cancer research. The fundraising goal for the joint event was $120,000.

There were about 800 students on the field at CCI walking the track and participating in other activities and games throughout event, which ran from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The relay begins with a survivor's lap, and during the evening, luminaries are lit along the track in memory of someone who died or in a prayer for someone battling cancer.
