The Huronia Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to announce its upcoming season, Sonic Journeys, promising an unforgettable musical journey for audiences of all ages.

Now celebrating its 55th season, the HSO is the sole community orchestra in Barrie and Simcoe County. The orchestra is comprised of 55 talented and dedicated volunteer musicians from the community and five professionals who lead the major sections. Our orchestra members come from throughout Simcoe County and reflect its diverse social fabric.

Under the baton of artistic director and conductor Oliver Balaburski as well as concert master David McFadden, the orchestra will present a dynamic lineup of five concerts for the 2023-2024 season, featuring classical masterpieces, contemporary compositions, and collaborations with renowned guest artists. This season's repertoire will showcase the orchestra's versatility and commitment to musical innovation.

Our season opens on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, at 3:30 p.m., with a one-of-a-kind Halloween concert, Phantoms and Fugues. It will feature Faust, Mozart's Symphony No. 25, Danse Macabre, Night on Bald Mountain, and Mozart’s Toccata in D, guaranteed to send shivers down your spine.

The concert, held at Collier Street United Church, promises a ghoulishly good time for music lovers and Halloween enthusiasts alike. With a program carefully curated to capture the spooky spirit of the season, attendees are in for a musical treat.
