This year’s March home sales in Southern Georgian Bay are nearly the exact same as they were in March last year, with just two extra sales this year, according to MLS data compiled by the Southern Georgian Bay Association of Realtors.

Last month there were 236 homes sold in the region, and 146 of those were in the western area including Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview, The Blue Mountains, Meaford, and Grey Highlands.

In the eastern region (Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay, Tiny, Severn, and Georgian Bay) sales for March totalled 146, which is down about 15 sales over March 2018.

Year-to-date there have been 536 homes sold in the region, which is up 12 sales from the same period in 2018.

As is the trend in local real estate, the dollar value of all residential transactions in the region increased again to $122.8 million, which is a 6.3 per cent increase from the same time in 2018.

“Home sales posted a solid year-over-year gain in the Eastern district of our overall geographic coverage region in March 2019, which almost exactly offset a decline in the Western district,” said Stan Reljic, President of the Southern Georgian Bay Association of Realtors (SGBAR). “Having said that, with inventories across the region still near historic lows, these monthly sales fluctuations may simply reflect where the really desirable properties are coming up for sale.”

There were 486 new residential listings in March 2019, climbing 4.1 per cent on a year-over-year basis, according to a media release issued by SGBAR. Active residential listings numbered 934 units at the end of March, an increase of 13.1 per cent from the end of March 2018.
