Here's a good reason to have lunch away from your desk (3 photos)

There is live music and local food at lunchtime downtown Collingwood every Wednesday this month.

In Collingwood, Wednesday gives Friday a run for its money for the title of the liveliest day of the week.

That’s because the Collingwood Downtown BIA brought back Local Live Lunch, a lunchtime live music performance accompanied by local chefs willing to take your bag lunch up several notches.

This week’s event featured music by Romney Getty accompanied by Tim Irvine. Lunch was prepared by The Crow. Bar and Variety and included a ginger tamari pulled pork sandwich topped with marinated slaw and pickled chillies.

Local Live Lunch runs Wednesdays from June 27 to Aug. 29 from noon to 1:30 p.m. and features a different live performance each week and optional lunch available for purchase (cash only) and made by a local restaurant.

The lunch and live performer combos for the remaining four Local Live Lunches are as follows:

Aug. 8: The Mike McCarthy Band and lunch by Tesoro

Aug. 15: Music by 50 Years Late and lunch by the Curly Willow

Aug. 22: The Dave Giles Band and lunch by Brunello at 27th on Fourth

Aug. 29: Hardbottle Band and lunch by Cabin Bistro

Local Live Lunch takes place at Sheffer Court outdoor plaza on Hurontario Street between Third and Fourth Streets.
