Here's a breakdown of the town's building activity in March

Total construction value is down by $1.6 million for March 2018 compared to March 2017.

Building activity was down in March compared to this time last year by about $1.6 million.

This year there were 75 permits issued for the month of March, compared to 79 last year.

The total construction value of those permits valued totalled $3.7 million in 2017, but the value was $2.1 million in 2018. Consequently, building permit fees collected in 2018 were at $22,075 compared to $33,412 last year. There were four new dwelling units created in 2017 and one in 2018.

Demolition was significantly higher in 2017 with the town issuing 31 demolition permits in March versus one demolition permit this year in March.

Collingwood releases a monthly report of building department statistics and keeps the archives of past reports on the town website. Other figures in the report showed nine sign permits, one septic system permit, five permits and 19 backflow permits issued in March 2018.
