Are you trying to make plans this weekend, but aren’t sure what’s going on?

Here are five things to do in and around Collingwood.

1. Collingwood Paddling Club regatta

The Collingwood Paddling Club is hosting a canoe/kayak regatta with over 80 athletes from across Western Ontario ages 12 to Masters. The event will include both youth and adults as well as Para and Special Olympic athletes who will race four one-kilometre loops within the Collingwood harbour.

2. GTHS Walk for Pets

The Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS) is celebrating the 11th year of the GTHS Walkathon with a brand-new name. The GTHS Walk for Pets 2023 is the non-profit’s largest fundraiser of the year aiming to raise $120,000 for the organization. For more information, click here.

3. Viva Variety Show

Viva Variety shows will take place on June 16 and 17 at the Simcoe Street Theatre. Started by locals Erin McAndrew and Cassie McKell, the variety show boasts local talent and brings together a variety of different acts, including drag, dance and other performances.

4. The Trek Scarecrow Gravel Ride

The Trek Scarecrow Gravel Ride is running on Saturday at Blue Mountain Resort. The cycling challenge runs in 58-kilometre, 70-kilometre and 94-kilometre increments. This year’s ride starts at the top of Blue Mountain and will end in the heart of Blue Mountain Village.

5. Summer Solstice Change of Seasons Ceremony

The Change of Seasons ceremony takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. on June 18 at the Awen Gathering Circle in Harbourview Park. The ceremony will be led by knowledge keepers James and Lori Kewaquom, who will share Indigenous teachings and honour the Summer Solstice. Jennifer McFarlane and Heather McIntyre will host the gathering and will welcome Ashunyung, a drum group from Georgina Island. There will also be a sacred fire, Inuit games, and Indigenous vendors. All are welcome and invited to wear Indigenous-made items of clothing and/or accessories.
