Hackathon will see students take part in virtual reality challenge

More than $7,500 in prizes up for grabs during event at Georgian College on Friday and Saturday

Georgian College is hosting a two-day event later this week called vr_HACK.

Teams of students will compete for more than $7,500 in prizes. They will be given a virtual reality and an extended reality challenge, create a solution and present those solutions to a panel of judges.

The event is being offered through the college’s Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre.

The competition will also include workshops, talks, and mentors who will help teams with their solutions. 

Schedule

Friday, Feb. 24

  • 5 p.m. — Networking, light meal, and refreshments
  • 5:45 p.m. — Welcome and kick-off
  • 6:30 p.m. — Hackathon begins
  • Thirty-hour hackathon that runs throughout the night with students and event organizers staying overnight

Saturday, Feb. 25

  • 5 p.m. — Final pitches take place
  • 6 p.m. — Winners announced
  • 6:30 p.m. — Celebration dinner

The event will take place in the ABSC Event Space, third floor, Peter B. Moore Advanced Technology Centre (N building), Barrie campus, 1 Georgian Dr.
